Data Cleaning & Industry Research for B2B Client List (High Accuracy Required)
Budget: $30 – $250 USD
We are a B2B company working with a large database of client records. We need a freelancer to help clean and enrich our spreadsheet data, specifically by identifying and assigning the correct industry category for each client.
THE LIST OF CLIENTS TO EVALUATE IS AROUND 6000-7000
You will be provided with:
1. A spreadsheet containing:
- Company name
- Email
- City
- Industry field (Most is empty)
2. A predefined list of industry categories
Scope of Work
1. Data Cleaning
- Review and clean existing data where needed
- Ensure consistency in formatting (company names, etc.)
2. Industry Research & Assignment (Core Task)
- Research each company using: Website, LinkedIn, Google search
- Identify the correct industry based on what the company actually does
- Assign the most accurate match from the provided 17 industry options
Important Requirements
- High attention to detail (accuracy is critical)
- Strong research skills (not guessing — must verify)
- Ability to interpret what a company does and categorize correctly
- Consistent decision-making across the dataset
⚠️ This is not simple data entry — it requires judgment and research.
Deliverables
- Updated spreadsheet with:
1. Correct industry assigned to each client
2. No missing industry fields (unless truly unverifiable — must be flagged)

- We will start with a small test batch to evaluate accuracy
