Used Car Arbitrage Dashboard

Job ID: 39758317

Budget: $750 – $1,500 USD

Project description
I’m looking for a complete, automated system to collect and compare used-car listings across the USA and Portugal, in order to identify resale margin opportunities.

The tool should:
• Collect vehicle listings from multiple websites and platforms (see below)
• Normalize key listing data (make, model, year, mileage, price, etc.)
• Compare vehicle prices across countries and calculate estimated resale margin
• Present results in a modern, responsive, browser-accessible dashboard

Functional requirements

Data collection
• Collect listings from:
o Facebook Marketplace (US & PT)
o OLX.pt
o Standvirtual.com
o Craigslist.org (all US states)
o AutoTempest.com (aggregates eBay, Cars.com, Autotrader, etc.)

The system must handle platforms with authentication, infinite scroll, and anti-bot techniques. Any method you choose is acceptable (e.g. Puppeteer, Playwright, Apify).

Data processing

Each listing must include:
• Make, model, year
• Price (USD or EUR)
• Mileage (miles → km if needed)
• Transmission, fuel type
• Location
• Original listing URL
• Country and source site

Margin calculation
• Compare matching vehicles between US and Portugal
• Apply fixed import cost (e.g., €2,500)
• Estimate potential margin (€)
• Pull live currency exchange rate (FX API)

Dashboard interface
• Web interface (preferably Streamlit, Dash, Retool, or your suggestion)
• Filter results by price range, make/model, year
• Sort by resale margin
• Keyword or VIN search
• Direct links to original listings
• Mark/save favorites
• Export filtered results to CSV or PDF

Automation
• Data refresh should be scheduled daily or on-demand
• No manual intervention (fully automated job execution)

Deliverables
1. Automated data collection engine
2. Normalized dataset schema + sample seed data
3. Margin calculation logic (with FX API integration)
4. Front-end dashboard (deployed or Dockerized)
5. README for local setup or deployment

Tech preferences
Open to your preferred stack — Python (Playwright/Scrapy), Node.js (Puppeteer), or other.

Bonus points if you:
• Have built a price comparison or arbitrage system before
• Can show demos or code samples (if available)

Let me know if you can also offer ongoing support or improvements after delivery.
