3. Step-by-Step Instructions
You must follow these steps exactly for every single City-Destination pair to ensure accurate local results.
Step 1: Spoof Your Location (Crucial)
You must make the vendor websites believe you are physically located in the specific Indian city to see the correct local rates.
Open Google Chrome.
Press Ctrl + Shift + I (Windows) or Cmd + Option + I (Mac) to open Developer Tools.
Click the three vertical dots in the top-right corner of the Developer Tools panel (not the browser dots).
Go to More tools > Sensors.
In the "Sensors" tab at the bottom, look for Location.
Select Other... and enter the coordinates for the city you are working on.
Tip: Google "Coordinates for [City Name]" to get the Latitude/Longitude.
(Example - Mumbai: Lat 19.0760, Long 72.8777)
Keep the Developer Tools window OPEN and refresh the page.
Step 2: Find the Top 10 Vendors
With the location set, search Google for: "[Currency Name] buy online in [City Name]"
Example: "Thai Baht buy online in Bangalore"
Identify the Top 10 organic vendor websites from the search results.
Examples of vendors: BookMyForex, Orient Exchange, Thomas Cook, EbixCash, etc.
Note: If a result is a blog or news article, skip it. Look for actual booking websites.
Step 3: Simulate the Transaction
Open the vendor's website.
Select Product Type: "Currency Notes" or "Cash".
Warning: Do NOT select Forex Cards or Wire Transfer.
Enter Amount: Enter an amount of foreign currency that equals approximately ₹40,000 INR.
Proceed through the checkout steps until you reach the Final Payment Page.
This is the page that shows the breakdown of GST, Service Fees, Delivery Charges, and the Final Total.
Do not make a payment. Just reach the summary screen.
4. Deliverables
For each data point, we need two things:
1. The Spreadsheet (Excel/Google Sheets) Create a sheet with the following columns:
Indian City: (e.g., Bangalore)
Destination Country: (e.g., Thailand)
Vendor Name: (e.g., BookMyForex)
Currency: (e.g., THB)
Forex Amount: (e.g., 17,000 THB)
Exchange Rate: ( The rate per unit shown)
GST/Tax: (Amount in INR)
Service/Delivery Fees: (Amount in INR)
Final Total Cost: (The final INR amount to be paid)
Implied Rate: (Final Total Cost / Forex Amount)
2. The Proof (Screenshots)
Take a clear screenshot of the Final Payment Page showing the cost breakdown.
Naming Convention: Save the file as: City_Destination_Vendor.jpg
Example: Bangalore_Thailand_OrientExchange.jpg
5. Important Constraints
Accuracy: You must ensure your Chrome Location sensor is active for every search. Prices vary by city.
Cash Only: If a vendor only offers Forex Cards (like Niyo or Scapia), skip them. We only want Cash data.
Hidden Fees: We specifically need the final price. Do not just copy the rate from the homepage; you must go to the checkout screen to reveal taxes. This is considered complete only after the screenshot on the final page.
