Sports Performance Benchmark Research
Budget: $30 – $250 USD
I want to compile a clear picture of how male and female athletes measure up across both team and individual sports.
In short, it is a Sports Benchmarking Research Project.
Objective:
We are seeking freelance researchers to conduct a structured market research project focused on benchmarking athletic performance data. The aim is to gather, organize, and present global benchmarks for five key sports performance areas:
1. Sprint
2. Endurance
3. Strength
4. Mobility
5. Reaction
⸻
Scope of Work:
• Perform desk research and scraping of public information from credible sources, including:
• Academic research papers
• Sports science articles
• Institutional reports
• Federations and elite club benchmarks
• White papers and databases
• Extrapolate as much data as possible related to the five performance areas above, focusing on benchmarks.
• Classify and organize all data points by gender and age group.
• Consolidate the results into a structured Excel table, ensuring consistency of units, clear referencing and easy comparison (Note: you will have to list all sources with links in the excel too).
⸻
Deliverables:
• A comprehensive Excel database of benchmarking data (organized by performance area, sports discipline and position, gender and age group). Note: this means you will have to differentiate between e.g., soccer and a striker vs a goal keeper and basketball with a points guard vs a power forward with the benchmarking data as much as possible.
• A brief reference log of sources used (URL, publication, or author).
⸻
Project Duration:
• Research will be conducted over a period of 2 working days (= total of 16 hours with the option to extend the research, depended on the quality of data collected over this period).
• Freelancers are expected to maximize data collection within this timeframe.
⸻
Evaluation Criteria:
• Proven experience in market research, sports science research (preferred) or data scraping.
• Ability to handle large datasets and present them cleanly in Excel.
• Attention to detail and accuracy in categorization (age, gender).
• Strong referencing discipline (traceability of data sources).
