Restaurant Research & Menu Data Specialist (1000 South African Restaurants)

We are building a modern restaurant discovery platform where users can search restaurants, browse digital menus, discover specials and events, and search for individual dishes across South Africa.
We are looking for an experienced individual or team to help us populate our database with approximately 1,000 South African restaurants.
This is not simply a data entry project. It requires excellent internet research skills, attention to detail, and the ability to accurately organise restaurant information.
Scope of Work
We will provide a spreadsheet containing approximately 1,000 restaurant names.
For each restaurant you will need to:
1. Research the Restaurant
Collect and verify:
Restaurant name
Brand name (if applicable)
Logo
Cover image
Cuisine(s)
Physical address
Suburb
City
Province
Google Maps location
Phone number
Website
Email (if available)
Facebook page
Instagram page
Operating hours
Description of the restaurant
2. Obtain the Latest Menu
Locate the restaurant's most recent menu from:
Official website
PDF menu
Restaurant Facebook page
Restaurant Instagram
Google listings
Other official online sources
Save the menu as:
PDF where available
High-quality JPEG if PDF is unavailable
Ensure it is the latest available menu.
3. Upload Menu
Convert the menu into a spreadsheet (xlsx) and then upload it in backend.
Manual menu typing is available for corrections.
4. Quality Assurance
Verify:
Correct restaurant
Correct location
Latest menu
Correct logo
Correct contact details
Correct cuisine
Accuracy is extremely important.

Ideal Candidate

Project Size
Approximately 1,000 restaurants.
This is likely best suited to a small team or an experienced freelancer capable of handling high-volume research efficiently.
Success Criteria
The project will be considered successful when:
Every restaurant has a complete profile.
Every restaurant has its latest menu uploaded.
Information is accurate and up to date.
Duplicate restaurants are avoided.
Incorrect menus are not assigned to the wrong restaurant.
