Research Assistant for Data-Driven Dissertation
Budget: $750 – $1,500 USD
I am seeking a detail-oriented Research Assistant to support the data-collection phase of my doctoral dissertation. The study examines the correlation between Facilities Management (FM) financial support and accreditation outcomes for public higher education institutions in the SACSCOC region. This role focuses exclusively on data extraction, organization, and accuracy verification. No analysis or writing is required. The Research Assistant will:
1. Collect Accreditation Data (2014–2024)
Review SACSCOC accreditation actions (publicly available PDFs and website listings).
Extract accreditation outcomes (reaffirmed, warning, probation, monitoring reports, etc.).
Record data by institution and by year.
2. Collect Financial + Institutional Data
For each institution in the sample:
Retrieve FM-related expenditures from IPEDS or public financial reports.
Collect enrollment and institution type/classification (for use as control variables).
Match institutions with the correct IPEDS Unit ID.
3. Organize Data into a Spreadsheet
Enter all data into a provided Excel or Google Sheets template.
Apply coding conventions (provided).
Ensure consistency, accuracy, and documentation of sources.
4. Provide Source Documentation
Keep a simple log of where each data point was retrieved.
Save any PDFs used for verification (if needed).
