Statistical Analysis & Visualization for Paediatric Study

I’m analysing data from a prospective paediatric perioperative fasting audit/survey examining barriers to adherence with Sip-Til-Send (STS) clear fluid fasting guidelines.

The project combines:

Parent survey responses regarding fasting instructions, understanding, confidence, and barriers
EMR-derived perioperative fasting data

The primary clinical outcome I’m interested in is:
*prolonged clear fluid fasting (>6 hours)

I would also like to describe:
*actual clear fluid fasting duration
*STS adherence
*communication-related factors
*parent-centred outcomes such as thirst and satisfaction

I’m hoping for assistance with:
*determining the most appropriate descriptive statistics (mean vs median, presentation of categorical variables, graphical representation)
*guidance regarding handling of Likert-scale survey responses
*assessing associations between communication-related factors and prolonged fasting
*whether logistic regression/multivariable analysis would be appropriate given the sample size
*advice regarding presentation of results for manuscript preparation

Potential predictor variables include:
*conflicting instructions
*poor understanding of fasting instructions
*difficulty following instructions
*low confidence giving clear fluids
*emergency vs elective surgery
*inpatient vs day-of-surgery admission

I would also appreciate advice regarding:
*handling missing data
*variable selection
*creation of figures/tables for publication.
