Research to Enhance Practical Nursing Skills
Budget: $15 – $25 USD
I am undertaking a nursing-education study that zeroes in on one key question: how can we make practical skills training more effective for undergraduate nursing students? The goal is to generate evidence-based recommendations that educators can adopt immediately in labs, simulations, and clinical placements.
What I already have
• A preliminary concept note outlining desired competencies (IV insertion, wound care, basic assessment).
• Access to a cohort of first- and second-year students who are willing to participate.
Where I need your expertise
• Refining the research design and selecting an appropriate methodology (mixed-methods, quasi-experimental, or another approach you can justify).
• Developing or adapting validated assessment tools and checklists that accurately capture hands-on proficiency.
• Conducting a focused literature review on best practices in skills acquisition, simulation, and feedback models.
• Analysing collected data with statistical or qualitative techniques and translating findings into clear, actionable teaching strategies.
• Drafting the final report and, if feasible, a manuscript suitable for submission to a peer-reviewed nursing-education journal.
Deliverables
1. Detailed study protocol with ethical considerations addressed.
2. Complete set of data-collection instruments (rubrics, surveys, interview guides).
3. Cleaned data set with accompanying analysis files (SPSS, R, or similar).
4. A concise executive summary (2–3 pages) plus full report (approx. 5,000 words) highlighting results and recommendations.
Acceptance Criteria
• Instruments demonstrate content validity and reliability.
• Statistical results include effect sizes and confidence intervals, or rigorous thematic analysis for qualitative components.
• All references follow latest APA style.
