I need a Python script to transform an Excel work schedule into a more organized format. Currently, the schedule is output in a peculiar format that doesn't suit my recordkeeping needs. I want the script to convert this into a format where each row represents a specific date, and the columns correspond to different shift types.

- The script should take an Excel spreadsheet with one sheet as input.
