US Property Data Web Researcher

We are building ParcelRecordsUSA.com, a nationwide property-records website. We need careful web researchers to identify official government data sources for assigned U.S. counties and cities.

We will provide:

* A list of assigned counties
* A spreadsheet template
* Detailed research instructions
* Examples of correctly completed rows

Your job is to research each assigned county and the cities located within it and find machine-readable government data sources for:

1. Building permits — highest priority
2. Building, housing, or property code violations
3. Property assessment and tax records

Important: Building permits and code violations are often maintained by cities, while assessment and parcel records are usually maintained by counties. You must check both county and city government sources.

Accepted sources:

* ArcGIS FeatureServer or MapServer query layers
* Socrata JSON APIs
* CKAN datastore APIs
* Official government REST or JSON APIs

We will not accept:

* Government homepages
* Google search-result links
* PDF files
* Spreadsheet downloads
* HTML-only property search pages
* Map viewers without a queryable data layer
* Third-party or paid data websites
* Unverified or guessed URLs

Every submitted source must:

* Come from an official government organization
* Open successfully and return actual records
* Include a parcel number/APN, full property address, or both
* Include a working sample query that displays several records
* Be entered into every required spreadsheet field
* Use “UNKNOWN” when information cannot be confirmed; fields must not be left blank

For every source, record information including:

* State
* County
* City or agency
* Record type
* Dataset name
* Official dataset page
* API or GIS endpoint
* Platform type
* Join key: Parcel, Address, Both, or None
* Parcel/address field name
* Sample working query URL
* Available date range, if known
* Update frequency, if known
* Verification notes
* Date verified

Quality is more important than quantity. Twenty verified, usable sources are more valuable than 200 unverified links. Invalid, inaccessible, duplicated, or non-government sources will not be approved.

Paid test:

The selected applicant will first research five assigned counties/cities. Payment for the test will be released after the submitted endpoints and sample queries have been checked. Researchers who pass will receive larger batches.

2. Explain the difference between a government dataset webpage and a usable API endpoint.
3. How would you verify that an ArcGIS FeatureServer contains property-level records?
4. Provide one example of an official U.S. building-permit API or GIS endpoint.
5. How many fully verified sources can you realistically complete per day?
