Job ID: 40512683

Budget: ₹1,500 – ₹12,500 INR

**Hiring: OpenFOAM CFD Expert (LES Simulation | Ventilation Analysis | Master's Research Project)**

**Project Type:** Freelance / Contract

We are looking for an experienced CFD Engineer with strong OpenFOAM expertise to support a Master's-level research project involving airflow simulation and downdraft ventilation performance analysis.

**Project Overview**

The project focuses on investigating airflow behavior, thermal plume capture, and turbulent flow structures in an electric cooktop equipped with a downdraft ventilation system using OpenFOAM.

The selected expert will be responsible for developing, validating, running, and analyzing multiple CFD simulations and supporting the preparation of research deliverables.

**Required Skills**

• Strong hands-on experience with OpenFOAM
• Experience with LES (Large Eddy Simulation) and turbulence modeling
• CFD meshing using blockMesh/snappyHexMesh
• Knowledge of fluid mechanics and ventilation airflow analysis
• Solver setup and convergence troubleshooting
• ParaView post-processing and visualization
• Technical report and research documentation experience

**Project Scope**

• Create and validate CFD geometry and mesh
• Configure boundary conditions and solver settings
• Setup LES simulations in OpenFOAM
• Run 12 simulation cases across different inlet velocities and vent locations
• Analyze airflow velocity distribution and turbulent structures
• Generate velocity contours, streamlines, vortex visualization, and comparison plots
• Evaluate airflow capture efficiency and identify the optimal vent configuration
• Prepare simulation files, report content, and presentation materials

**Deliverables**

• Complete OpenFOAM simulation files
• Results and post-processing outputs
• Project report (approximately 40 pages)
• Presentation deck (15–25 slides)
• Revision support if modifications are requested

**Ideal Candidate**

• Previously completed academic or industrial CFD projects
• Strong troubleshooting and validation skills
• Can independently handle simulation setup and analysis
• Comfortable explaining methodology and results during review sessions

**To Apply, Please Answer:**

1. How many years of OpenFOAM experience do you have?
2. Have you worked on LES simulations? Please describe the project.
3. Which turbulence models have you used in OpenFOAM?
4. Have you performed ventilation, HVAC, kitchen airflow, or indoor airflow simulations before?
5. What is your experience with blockMesh and mesh quality optimization?
6. Can you provide sample CFD results, reports, or publications?
7. Rate your OpenFOAM expertise on a scale of 1–10.
8. Are you comfortable supporting report writing and result interpretation?

**Important**

Only apply if you have real hands-on OpenFOAM and CFD experience. Shortlisted candidates may be asked to attend a live technical discussion/demo session before project allocation. This helps save time for both parties and ensures the right fit for the project.
