Nursery Occupancy Excel Tracker

I need a single Microsoft Excel workbook that lets me keep on top of every child in my day-nursery, from the day they join us to the day they leave for school. Within it I have to be able to record each child’s name, current age, entry date, projected school-leaving date and their room assignment. As ages change the file should automatically forecast when a child is due to move up to the next room, reserve a place for them there and then show me—at a glance—how many real spaces are still free in every room once those moves are taken into account.

Because staffing and marketing decisions rely on this data, the occupancy figures and room-move projections need to refresh accurately every day; a TODAY-based formula or a simple macro that recalculates on opening is fine as long as it stays inside Excel. A clear, printable dashboard that highlights looming over-capacity or unused places would be ideal, but the core priority is rock-solid underlying formulas I can trust.

• Brief, plain-English user guide mapping where I input data and how the automatic calculations work

I will test by entering sample children across all age brackets; the file must instantly update ages, room moves and free-space counts without manual intervention.
