Meteorite Impact Site Verification
Budget: $200 – $400 USD
I'm seeking an expert to authenticate that my property in Fairmont, WV, was struck by an ancient meteor. I have found numerous black diamonds (carbonados), a twinning crystal, evidence of shock metamorphosis, shock quartz (coesite with planar deformation features), crystalized ancient clam shells, a crystalized dinosaur egg, numerous fossilized turtle shells, and other fossils preserved due to a shock event and the unusual geology of the property (the presence of pockets of white clay). The property also contains the fossilized remains of a large unidentified animal, most likely a feathered dinosaur that has not been extracted from the ground. There are many other fossils that are crystallized that have not yet been identified. The ideal expert would have:
- Expertise in geology or meteor impact strikes
- The ability to analyze and verify materials that are present as a result of an ancient meteor strike
- Experience with fossil excavation and preservation,
- the ability to conduct lab analysis of geological samples and fossils both on and off the property.
Deliverables:
- Detailed report on authenticity of carbonados
- Scientific analysis of other samples on the property
- Recommendations for further work on the property to identify other fossils that may be located on the property.
Ideal skills and experience:
- Advanced degrees in geology or related fields
- Background in planetary science or meteoritics
- Access to laboratory facilities for in-depth analysis of samples from the property
Please contact me, Kevin Hallquist, at (304) 680-4414 to discuss this project.
