Memoir Market Viability Assessment
Budget: $30 – $250 AUD
I’m at the stage where passion must meet practicality. The manuscript for my memoir is complete, and I plan to release it first as a print edition aimed squarely at the general public. Before committing to production costs, distribution channels, or marketing spend, I need a grounded, data-driven market potential analysis that tells me whether this story can realistically find its audience—and how large that audience might be.
Here’s what I expect from the study:
• Competitive landscape: recent print memoirs with similar themes, their sales figures (where available), price points, and positioning.
• Audience insight: demographic and psychographic profile of likely readers in the broader trade market, purchasing behaviours, and demand trends.
• Sales projections: realistic unit-sale ranges for year one and year three, with best-case, expected, and conservative scenarios.
• Marketing & positioning recommendations: effective hooks, distribution channels (bookstores, online retailers, indie outlets), and launch timing.
• Risk assessment and go/no-go verdict: a concise summary that weighs potential return against projected costs so I can decide my next step confidently.
Acceptable sources include BookScan, Publisher’s Marketplace, Nielsen, BISAC category reports, bestseller lists, and verifiable trade articles. Please cite every data point so I can trace and verify the numbers.
Deliver the findings as a succinct PDF report (10–15 pages is fine) plus a spreadsheet of the raw data. I value clarity over volume; actionable insights over generic commentary.
