Mailchimp Segmentation Specialist Needed
Budget: £750 – £1,500 GBP
About Us:
We’re a medical publishing company with different Video Journals in different medical specialties: VJHemOnc, VJOncology, and VJNeurology. These video journals are a group of digital, video-led websites covering the latest in hematology, oncology, and neurology for a professional healthcare audience.
The Project:
We manage three separate Mailchimp lists, one for each of our journals (12,000–22,000 subscribers each), which we want to segment more intelligently by disease specialty to improve the targeting of our email campaigns.
Right now, only a portion of subscribers have existing segments, and Mailchimp’s native tools are too limited for the scale of segmentation we need. We’re looking for a freelance developer to help us create a custom solution that uses logic or lightweight AI to categorize current subscribers based on the data we already have.
Available Data Includes:
- Email, first name, last name, country, and SPECIALTY field when present, (one of our lists is 58% segmented, another is 12% segmented and another only 4% segmented)
- Lists are split by journal (e.g., VJHemOnc, VJOncology, VJNeurology)
- We can export and import via CSV/sheets and work within Mailchimp’s API if needed
Your Role:
Analyze the current data structure (we’ll provide exports)
Build a lightweight segmentation tool (e.g. script, logic-based system, or AI model) that can assign specialty categories to unsegmented subscribers
The logic could use data such as email domains, name/title clues and doing an online search, etc.
Deliver a working tool or script with clear documentation so we can reuse or update regularly
Deliverables:
- A segmentation tool or script
- Documentation or simple guide on how to run/use it
- Different sheets within each of the journals that are segmented by specialty (we can provide specific specialty names for each journal) that we can then export and import back into mailchimp, to add into our current segments.
Ideal Skills:
- Experience with Mailchimp API and contact list handling
- Python, data processing, and/or lightweight NLP/AI skills
- Familiarity with CRM/email segmentation best practices
Bonus: healthcare or medical industry background
Timeline:
We’d like to begin this project in the next 3-4 weeks, but we’re flexible for the right person.
To Apply:
Please include a few lines about relevant past experience, any similar tools/scripts you've built, and your availability.
