Lightweight Financial Excel Merger

I have several very large Excel workbooks that need to be consolidated into one streamlined file ready for ongoing financial analysis. At the moment each source file is so heavy that opening or refreshing them is painfully slow, and combining them as-is would be unworkable. The goal is a single master workbook that feels light and responsive yet still holds all of the underlying data I rely on.
Here is what I need:
• Integrate multiple Excel files into one central workbook, using the most efficient method (Power Query, Power Pivot, VBA, or a mix—whatever keeps the file compact and quick).
• Build a clean, refreshable data model that I can update easily when new monthly files arrive.
• Prepare the file for financial analysis: I should be able to run pivot tables, create ad-hoc measures, and plug numbers straight into my forecasting models without lag.
• Include an interactive dashboard area with dynamic charts and slicers so leadership can slice results instantly.
Acceptance criteria
1. File opens in seconds, not minutes, on a typical office laptop.
2. Data refresh completes without crashing or hanging.
3. Source links and refresh steps are clearly documented inside the workbook so I can maintain them myself.
