International Relations and Business Strategy Consultant (Project-Based)
Budget: $750 – $1,500 USD
Core Responsibilities
1. Conduct independent, in-depth desk research and data analysis on designated international relations topics, geopolitical risks, or country-specific policy environments.
2. Monitor and interpret policy trends of key national governments, dynamics of international organizations, and major global events; proactively assess their development trajectories; develop analytical frameworks; and produce well-structured, evidence-based research reports and policy briefs with clear conclusions.
3. Integrate macro-level international relations analysis with specific industry contexts (e.g., technology, finance, energy, manufacturing, consumer goods) and corporate scenarios.
4. Identify and evaluate the specific impacts of political risks, regulatory changes, and fluctuations in international relations on clients’ business models, market access, supply chain security, and competitiveness; assist project teams in translating research findings into strategic options, risk assessments, and actionable recommendations for clients’ business challenges.
5. Support consulting teams by providing professional input and expert insights for clients’ specific projects; participate in select client meetings to clearly and persuasively present research findings and analytical logic; and, as project needs require, develop data models, expert interview guides, or thematic workshop materials.
Qualifications
1. A master’s degree or higher in international relations, political science, international political economy, area studies, or a related field. A Ph.D. or interdisciplinary background (e.g., business, law, economics) is preferred.
2. At least 3 years of relevant work experience in international relations research institutions, think tanks, consulting firms, financial institution research departments, or strategic/public policy divisions of multinational corporations.
3. Systematic understanding of the political systems, foreign policies, and international economic frameworks of major global economies.
4. Proficiency in qualitative and quantitative research methods, with the ability to adeptly process various types of public data, policy documents, and open-source intelligence.
5. Excellent written and oral communication skills in both Chinese and English, with the ability to produce professional analytical reports tailored to business audiences (writing samples required).
6. Proficiency in at least one major language other than English and Chinese (e.g., Spanish, Arabic, German, Japanese) is preferred.
