High-Signal Sports Newsletter Writer

Job ID: 40165322

Budget: $750 – $1,500 USD

I’m building a $50-per-month subscription that delivers “high-signal basketball & football intelligence for serious fans.” To live up to that promise I need a writer who can produce original, edge-driven analysis—not news aggregation, not hot takes.

Scope of work over the first three months
• Publish 2–3 free Substack posts every week that challenge mainstream narratives in either the NBA, NFL, college football or college basketball. Each post must answer one real fan question and close with a direct CTA pointing to the paid tier.
• Craft one premium-style teaser article per week. The piece should cut off at the mid-point and drive upgrades.
• Drop a daily X (Twitter) thread built around deeper analysis plus patterns and context. Typical topics: college football playoff debates, NBA roster construction, NFL draft decisions.

What “high-signal” means here
• Both basketball and football coverage, weighted to what’s moving the discourse that day.
• Writing rooted in data, film study and historical comps.
• Clear, opinionated conclusions that go beyond surface-level stats.

Acceptance criteria
1. Zero reliance on wire stories or reposted clips.
2. Every post includes at least one original chart, clip breakdown, or data table.
3. Voice stays analytical yet accessible—think niche podcast depth in newsletter form.
4. Threads must be scheduled/posted on my X account by 10 a.m. ET each weekday.

Tools you’re comfortable with—Synergy, PFF, Second Spectrum, Stathead—are a bonus but not mandatory; insight is. If you can deliver consistently tight copy that gives paying readers an obvious edge, let’s talk.
