HVDC Transmission Efficiency Simulation Enhancements

Job ID: 40044304

Budget: ₹750 – ₹1,250 INR

I have already built a two-terminal HVDC transmission model in MATLAB/Simulink that incorporates power-flow control and has demonstrated a 20 % overall efficiency gain in preliminary tests. My next objective is to push that figure higher by targeting energy-loss reduction while validating the model’s behaviour under grid-interconnection scenarios.

Here is what I have in place:
• A functioning Simulink schematic of the converter stations, DC line, and AC grids
• Basic power-flow control logic that balances the two terminals
• Data from the first round of simulations confirming the current gain

Where I need your help is in refining the model so that every avoidable watt stays in the system. Specifically, I want to:

• Identify and quantify dominant loss paths (converter switching, line resistance, filters, etc.)
• Introduce or improve component-level tweaks—topology choices, modulation schemes, or control-loop tuning—that directly cut those losses
• Verify stability and performance when the HVDC link is tied into a realistic AC grid on either end, including fault-free steady-state as well as fast transients
• Document the changes clearly enough for me to trace every calculation

Deliverables
1. Updated MATLAB/Simulink files with annotated blocks and parameter sets
2. A concise technical note (PDF or Word) summarising methods, assumptions, and before/after efficiency metrics
3. A short walkthrough video or live session (≤30 min) so I can reproduce your results

Acceptance Criteria
• Re-simulations prove a measurable efficiency improvement beyond the current 20 % baseline, with plots and numeric tables to back it up
• The grid-interconnection test cases run without numerical instability or unintended power oscillations
• All custom scripts compile and execute on MATLAB R2022b without additional toolboxes beyond Simscape Electrical

If you have hands-on experience with HVDC control, PWM strategies, or loss modelling, your insight will be invaluable.
