Expense Categorization & Summaries
Budget: $200 – $500 USD
I have statements from two credit cards and two bank accounts that need to be turned into a clean, well-organized Excel workbook. Every transaction should be tagged using standard accounting categories so I can quickly see where the money is going.
Once the data is in place, I also need clear insights: a monthly expenditure summary to track short-term trends and a consolidated yearly summary for the bigger picture. If you’re comfortable working directly in Excel—using tools such as pivot tables, filters, or simple formulas to keep things dynamic—that’s perfect.
Accuracy matters to me, so please double-check that each transaction lands in the right category and that the summaries reconcile back to the raw totals. When we wrap up, I expect an Excel file that includes:
• A transactions sheet with all items categorized
• A monthly summary tab
• A yearly summary tab
If this is straightforward for you and you have a solid bookkeeping background, let’s get started.
