Excel Power Pivot Cost Analysis
Budget: $30 – $250 USD
Our team maintains several Excel workbooks that are refreshed every day with material costs, labor costs, job numbers, contractor names, and job names. I need these separate files brought together in a single Power Pivot data model so I can track project expenses quickly and accurately.
The task centres on:
• Importing and cleaning the daily-updated workbooks (Power Query is fine for this step).
• Building a Power Pivot model that relates every cost line to its job number.
• Creating DAX measures that summarise total spend, subtotals by contractor, and a quick drill-down from job name to individual cost lines.
• Presenting the results in PivotTables or a simple dashboard inside the same workbook so I can spot overruns at a glance.
Acceptance criteria
• The model refreshes without manual intervention when the source files are updated.
• Slicers allow filtering by job, contractor, and cost type (material vs. labor).
• Totals shown in the dashboard match a control total I will provide.
Everything must stay inside Excel—no external BI tools—so that the file can be emailed to project managers.
