Excel Fintech Dashboard & Tracker
Budget: $30 – $250 USD
I want to turn a plain-looking workbook into a polished fintech experience, completely inside Excel. The end result should feel like commercial software rather than a template, with clean navigation, protective formatting and responsive formulas/VBA so users never see the “spreadsheet guts.”
Design tone
I gravitate toward a classic aesthetic—elegant typography, restrained colour palette, clear hierarchy—so every sheet and chart needs to reflect that timeless look.
Phase-one focus
We will begin with the Income Tracker. I need an input interface that feels form-based, instantly categorises income streams, and rolls the data into dynamic views (daily, weekly, monthly). Slicers or a custom ribbon button for quick period changes are welcome if they keep the experience seamless.
Analytics & reports
My priority is flexibility: the user should be able to define custom reports on the fly, choose the metrics, time span and grouping, then have the workbook generate formatted tables and charts automatically. Think pivot-table power without making the user touch a pivot table.
Long-term framework
Although we start with income, the workbook architecture must anticipate the wider system—Capital Allocation Engine, Net Worth and Investment trackers, Goal Centre, global Settings sheet where altering allocation percentages ripples through everything. Code and named ranges should therefore be modular and clearly commented.
Deliverables (phase one)
• Fully formatted Income Tracker worksheet with form-like data entry
• Back-end tables and named ranges ready for expansion to other modules
• VBA or 365 formula logic that drives instant custom report generation
• At least two sample custom report layouts to demonstrate the engine
• Brief build notes explaining key ranges/macros for future phases
Acceptance criteria
The tracker works without enabling external add-ins, recalculates error-free, and retains its formatting when protected. A new user—without touching a formula—can: 1) add income, 2) switch report parameters, 3) view an updated summary, all while experiencing a smooth, app-like flow.
