Employment Opportunities in Gippsland’s Forest and Timber Industry

This project needs to deliver a concise, evidence-based report examining the current state of forestry employment roles, education and identifying strategies to strengthen the forest and timber industry workforce in Gippsland. It will analyse operational, technical, and managerial roles across the sector, assess the skills required for these positions, and map them against existing training programs offered by local providers such as TAFE, universities, and Registered Training Organisations (RTOs). Through collaboration with industry employers, education providers, and community stakeholders, the study will identify workforce shortages, future employment opportunities, and skills gaps, ensuring training pathways are aligned with current and emerging industry needs.
