US County Census Panel Dataset
Budget: $30 – $250 USD
I need a clean, ready-to-use panel that combines county-level GDP, total population, working-age population, and educational attainment for every state in the U.S. for the census years 1990, 2000, 2010, and—if data are available—2020. All figures must be sourced from NHGIS.org or any reputable source and merged using consistent state- and county-level FIPS codes so that each row represents one county–year observation.
The finished work should arrive as a single Excel workbook. One worksheet should hold the panel itself, clearly labeled and fully documented; another should present descriptive statistics for each variable across the entire time span. Please include the basics (mean, median, standard deviation) and feel free to suggest any other useful summaries.
Ensure:
• Accurate extraction and citation of NHGIS or any other source tables
• Harmonized county boundaries across years (note any changes)
• Transparent variable definitions and any transformations you apply
If interim code or notebooks (R, Stata) make the process reproducible, include them—though the principal deliverable remains the Excel file and its descriptive-statistics sheet.
