Cognos Reports for eCW EMR
Budget: $250 – $750 USD
I run an eClinicalWorks (eCW) environment backed by Microsoft SQL Server and I’m looking for an experienced Cognos developer who can jump in remotely, part-time and on an as-needed basis, to design and maintain a suite of reports that I can rely on in daily operations.
Scope of work
• Build new Clinical and Financial reports in Cognos Analytics, drawing directly from the eCW SQL schema.
• Initial clinical focus: Treatment-plan summaries and Care-management dashboards that give providers a quick, actionable view of patient progress.
• Financial focus: encounter-level revenue, payer mix, and month-end performance metrics.
• Tune existing queries for speed and accuracy, making sure the data shown in Cognos matches what staff see inside eCW.
• Package each report with clear prompts, security filters, and brief user notes so my care team can run them without help.
Access & tooling
I will provide read-only VPN access to the SQL replica, the current data dictionary, and a test Cognos instance (11.x). Familiarity with Framework Manager, Data Modules, and Report Studio is expected.
Deliverables (per milestone)
1. Published .zip of the Cognos report specification
2. SQL source script or view definition
3. One-page usage guide in Word or PDF
Acceptance criteria
• All report figures reconcile within ±1% of the same data pulled directly from eCW.
• Average execution time under 15 seconds on a 10k-row dataset.
• No hard-coded dates, providers, or locations—everything parameter-driven.
The engagement is virtual and PRN; when a new reporting need arises, I’ll give you the spec and desired turnaround, and we’ll schedule mutually convenient working hours. If you have solid Cognos chops, understand EMR data, and respond quickly, I’d love to keep you on retainer for ongoing enhancements.
