AI Transitions for DaVinci Resolve
Budget: $250 – $750 USD
I spend hours in DaVinci Resolve lining up clips and then repeating the same sequence of simple fades and straight cuts. I’d like that repetitive step to disappear. The goal of this project is to build an AI-driven routine that can scan a Resolve timeline (or an imported batch of clips), decide where a transition is needed, and automatically apply the appropriate fade or cut with clean, frame-accurate timing.
Key points you should know
• Scope is limited to adding transitions and effects; no trimming, colour work, or fancy animations are required.
• Preferred transition style: classic fades and basic cuts only—nothing flashy.
• The solution must run inside, or integrate smoothly with, DaVinci Resolve. Whether that’s a Resolve script, a Python/Fusion macro, or an external tool that hands results back to Resolve, I’m open, as long as it fits naturally into the Resolve workflow.
Deliverables
– A working script, plug-in, or standalone utility that applies the transitions automatically in DaVinci Resolve.
– Clear setup and usage instructions (text or short video).
– A quick test project or sample timeline demonstrating the automation in action.
Acceptance criteria
1. The tool reliably detects clip boundaries and inserts either a straight cut or a fade based on simple rules you define (e.g., dialogue pauses, scene changes, or user-set intervals).
2. Output renders without artefacts and shows the correct transition at each detected point.
3. Installation and operation can be completed by someone with standard Resolve knowledge in under 10 minutes.
If you’ve previously scripted Resolve or worked on AI-assisted editing tools, that experience will help us move quickly. Feel free to suggest the most efficient architecture; the important thing is fast, hands-off application of those basic fades and cuts.
