Dramatic Family Testimony Edit
Budget: $1,500 – $3,000 USD
I’m sitting on roughly sixty minutes of raw interviews and family-shot footage that captures several generations recounting our shared history. What I now need is a skilled editor who can shape this material into a cohesive, dramatic, and emotionally charged documentary that keeps the audience invested from the first frame to the last.
The tone I’m after is cinematic rather than journalistic—music cues that swell at the right moments, pacing that allows tears or laughter to land, and transitions that feel purposeful rather than decorative. Personal stories and anecdotes are the heart of this piece, so every editing choice should push the viewer closer to those intimate, relatable moments.
I already have a handful of “must-use” segments (mainly pivotal interviews and a few B-roll shots), but I’m very open to fresh ideas on structure, order, and additional visuals you think would heighten the narrative. If you need pick-ups or suggest archival inserts, pitch them—I value creative collaboration.
What I expect as a finished deliverable:
• A polished, broadcast-ready cut right around the 60-minute mark
• Balanced audio, tasteful sound design, and color-corrected images that maintain a consistent feel
• All project files neatly organized so future revisions are simple (Premiere Pro, DaVinci Resolve, or Final Cut X are all fine—use whichever lets you do your best work)
Once hired, I’ll send over the footage via a shared drive along with a rough paper edit showing the essential moments I definitely want to see on screen. Let me know your preferred workflow, how you handle feedback rounds, and an estimated timeline to first cut. I’m excited to see how you can turn our family memories into a moving story for wider audiences.
This is a deeply personal legacy documentary, honoring a 88 y/o Matriarch whose life shaped multiple generations. The tone must emphasize reverence, dignity, strength and emotional authenticity
The film will follow a chronological narrative with reflective to present- day cutaways Inspired by story telling ( memory interwoven with the present) This is not a commercial piece. It is a legacy project meant to preserve history , character and values for future generations.
