Building a community based Clothing Brand via a UK Shopify Site
Budget: £250 – £750 GBP
I am preparing to launch a new clothing label and single product to start. I'd like the entire shopping experience built on Shopify. Trademarks are being reviewed, the domain name is secured and manufacturers are being sampled for the best quality product.
However, this isn't a typical business start up rather the beginning of a bold community movement to support men's mental health. The name, brand and idea will be shared later once the 'shop/website' is underway and trademarks are secured and then the vision will be clearer for you.
Everyone believes their business idea will work but this isn't a business idea - this is a concept which could help support men worldwide and if it gains momentum the successful freelancer could be brought into the team. Its is the brand and concept which will attract people to the product.
Beyond a clean storefront, the priority is a community-based feel: shoppers should feel they’re joining a movement and be encouraged to spread the word organically of the brand.
Core objectives:
• Design and set up a fully responsive Shopify site that matches my brand identity (I’m open to your visual direction as long as it stays on-brand).
• I'd like your ideas about community-driven features where customers can talk about the clothes, share photos, and spark that “word-of-mouth” buzz. A forums-style page, user galleries, or social connection plug-ins are all possibilities—show me what you can do inside Shopify’s ecosystem.
• Smooth, standard shopping flow: clear product pages, easy checkout, and all the UK shipping/tax details handled.
• Future-proofing: leave room for extra product lines and product reviews, wish-lists, or live chat support if we decide to add them later.
Acceptance criteria
1. The site is live on a .co.uk domain with SSL, fast page load, and Shopify best-practice SEO settings.
2. Shoppers can create a profile or otherwise contribute content that appears publicly on the site.
3. Any community area is fully moderated from the Shopify admin or an integrated app you configure.
4. I receive a short hand-off video or doc explaining how to update products, manage the community features, and roll out future sections.
If you’ve built Shopify stores with a strong social or community layer before, I’d love to see examples. Let me know how you’d approach the “word of mouth” aspect or wide scale recognition without self promotion.
