I am interested in a role as a Library Associate at Texas Tech University, a university I used to attend. I have graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Biology and have been a circulation assistant at Lone Star College for a little over a year now. My primary duties there were checking out materials to students, staff, and faculty, creating IDs, shelving books, retrieving and processing materials for intra-library and inter-library loans, and assisting patrons with computers and other library equipment. I have also worked retail for over four years, and this customer-facing role has taught me many communication, time management, and problem-solving skills. I am mostly interested in this role as a library associate as I one day I would like to work professionally as an academic librarian for an organization such as Texas Tech, science librarianship being my area of interest. Texas Tech is also ranked among the top third of academic research libraries nationally, therefore I believe it is a good place to grow in this industry.
