HTML/XML Theater Website Build
Budget: £20 – £250 GBP
I need a complete website for an independent theater and want the core of it written in plain HTML for the pages and XML for the structured data that will feed those pages (show listings, dates, pricing, etc.). Your job is to turn that simple tech stack into a polished, responsive site that loads quickly on desktop and mobile.
Here is what I already know for sure:
• Content will be maintained by me through the XML files, so the HTML must be cleanly linked to that data and easy to update.
• No server-side language is required; any dynamic behaviour should rely on JavaScript reading the XML.
• Final code must validate to current W3C standards and be organised so future contributors can understand it at a glance.
Deliverables
1. Fully responsive HTML templates (home, event detail, generic content page).
2. One well-commented XML schema plus example data files.
3. JavaScript that parses the XML and injects it into the HTML templates.
4. A brief README explaining folder structure, how to add new shows, and any build steps if you are using task runners or bundlers.
Acceptance Criteria
• Every sample event in the XML appears correctly in the rendered HTML without manual editing.
• No console errors in the latest versions of Chrome, Firefox, and Safari.
• CSS matches the design you propose and we approve during the first milestone.
