Fix Mobile Shopify Inbox Bug
Budget: $30 – $80 USD
My Shopify store’s Inbox chat icon is fully functional on desktop, yet on any mobile device it looks clickable but never opens. Shopify Support hinted at a clash with either a third-party app or the heavy custom code inside my theme.
What I need from you
I want the real root cause isolated and eliminated—not a quick patch. While my own suspicion leans toward a CSS conflict (pointer-events, z-index, hidden overlays, etc.), the investigation should also cover JavaScript event listeners, App Embeds, and possible collisions with Avada apps or other installed plugins.
How you will work
• Safari Inspector is my preferred live-device debugger, though you’re free to confirm findings in Chrome DevTools or any tool that yields solid evidence.
• You’ll step through the Liquid templates, theme.js files, and any app scripts to spot JS errors, missing listeners, or mis-scoped variables.
• You’ll comb through style sheets to surface obstructive classes, media-query quirks, or position-fixed overlays that may swallow taps.
• Once the culprit is found, deliver a clean, documented fix inside the theme (or app settings) so the Inbox button opens reliably on iOS and Android.
Acceptance criteria
1. Inbox icon opens chat on at least iOS Safari and Android Chrome.
2. No regression on desktop behaviour.
3. The solution is reproducible: a short note outlining what was wrong and what was changed.
When you reply, focus on similar debugging projects you have completed—especially cases involving mobile-only issues inside highly customised Shopify themes. No need for lengthy proposals; solid experience speaks louder than boilerplate.
