[CSS/JS/HTML] Frontend Code Refactor and Cleanup
Budget: $30 – $250 USD
I’m seeking a skilled frontend developer to clean up and refactor an existing codebase for a fully designed and functional 10-page website. The pages are not complex and contain straightforward HTML, CSS, and jQuery. The current HTML, CSS, and JavaScript are messy and inconsistent, making the site difficult to scale and maintain. We’re looking for someone to bring professional structure and organization to the code without changing the visual design.
Key objectives:
- Remove unused, redundant code or non-functional elements to ensure clarity and efficiency.
- Use classes (not IDs) for styling and layout—reserve IDs only for JavaScript hooks
- Standardize naming conventions (kebab-case for classes) with consistent, meaningful, and reusable names
- Refactor repetitive styles; centralize and simplify with utility/atomic CSS where practical
- Organize CSS using best practices and shorthand properties to reduce clutter
- Maintain clean separation of structure, style, and behavior (HTML/CSS/JS)
- Keep everything modern, readable, organized, and scalable
- Ensure all code is easy to maintain and well-documented for future developers
Requirements:
- Proficiency in jQuery (current codebase relies heavily on it)
- Strong command of plain CSS (no preprocessor like Sass/LESS is being used)
- Excellent HTML/CSS/JS fundamentals
- Experience with code refactoring and cleanup
- Familiarity with utility-first CSS and reusable class strategies
- Attention to clean naming patterns and maintainable structures
This project is ideal for someone who values code quality, enjoys organizing messy codebases, and wants to help turn a rushed build into a polished, scalable frontend.
