Immersive Modern-Day Murder Mystery Design
Budget: ₹1,500 – ₹12,500 INR
JOB TITLE: Mystery Case Creator (Story + Experience Designer)
⸻
ABOUT THE BRAND
The Red Thread is a premium mystery experience brand that creates highly immersive, physical detective case kits. Each case is designed to feel like a real investigation, combining storytelling, evidence, puzzles, and document-based gameplay.
Our goal is to create cases that are not just stories, but experiences — where players think, analyze, doubt, and ultimately uncover the truth.
⸻
ROLE OVERVIEW
We are looking for a highly creative and detail-oriented Mystery Case Creator who can design complete detective case experiences from start to finish.
This role involves building the entire case:
* Story
* Characters
* Evidence structure
* Clue flow
* Puzzle logic
* Document content
* Overall player experience
This is not just writing. This is designing how a player thinks.
⸻
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
* Create original, engaging mystery/crime stories (Indian setting preferred)
* Design complete case flow (from introduction to final reveal)
* Develop layered clues, red herrings, and misdirection
* Build logical and satisfying solutions (no loopholes)
* Design puzzles that are integrated into the story (not random)
* Write all supporting content:
* Police reports
* Medical reports
* Statements
* Personal documents
* Evidence descriptions
* Ensure the case takes 3–4 hours to solve and feels challenging
* Maintain consistency and realism across all elements
⸻
WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR
* Strong interest in mystery, thriller, crime, or detective genres
* Ability to think logically and structurally (not just creatively)
* Attention to detail — small inconsistencies should not exist
* Understanding of how players think and solve problems
* Ability to create twists that are surprising but fair
* Skill in writing clear, natural, and realistic content
⸻
IDEAL CANDIDATE
Someone who:
* Loves solving mystery games, escape rooms, or detective stories
* Enjoys analyzing clues and building theories
* Notices small details others miss
* Can create both emotional depth and logical puzzles
* Thinks in “what will the player feel here?”
⸻
IMPORTANT REQUIREMENTS
* No plot holes or loose ends
* Every clue must serve a purpose
* No obvious or predictable solutions
* Puzzles must feel natural within the story
* The final reveal must feel satisfying and earned
⸻
DELIVERABLES
* Complete case concept
* Full story breakdown
* Document list and structure
* All written content for documents
* Clue mapping (how each clue connects)
* Final solution explanation
⸻
WORK TYPE
* Freelance / Project-based
* Remote
* Flexible, but deadline-driven
⸻
HOW TO APPLY
Please include:
* A short original mystery concept (2–3 paragraphs)
* Example of a puzzle or clue idea
* Any writing samples (if available)
⸻
FINAL NOTE
We are not looking for just a writer.
We are looking for someone who can design an experience where the player feels:
“I had all the clues… I just didn’t see it earlier.”
