Educational Baby Board Book
Budget: $250 – $750 USD
I’m putting together a gentle, education-focused board book for little ones aged 0-3 and need an experienced children’s writer to shape the text. The goal is to introduce first concepts—think colours, numbers or simple shapes—in a warm, rhythmic way that new parents will enjoy reading aloud again and again.
What I need from you
• A complete manuscript of roughly 150–250 words, broken into page spreads suitable for a standard 12-page board book.
• Brief art notes alongside the text so an illustrator can easily translate the words into bright, cartoon-style scenes.
Key points to bear in mind
• Audience: babies and toddlers; language must be clear, playful and repetitive enough for early learning.
• Theme: learning and education is central, so each spread should reinforce the chosen concept without feeling didactic.
• Visual direction: please write with bold, friendly cartoon-style illustrations in mind—simple characters, high contrast colours and plenty of visual cues that support the text.
Acceptance criteria
1. Final manuscript delivered in Word or Google Doc format.
2. Story flow passes a quick read-aloud rhythm test (I’ll time it and check for stumble points).
3. Each page’s art note is concise, describing main characters, setting and focal action.
If you have experience writing for babies or have sample pages from published board books, include them in your proposal so I can hear your voice right away.
