Personalized Memorial Marker Design
Budget: $30 – $250 USD
This project aims to create a personalized upright memorial marker that honors my father’s lifelong dedication to painting government ships. For decades, he worked independently, and his craftsmanship and pride in his work became a defining part of his identity. Incorporating a Navy ship design into the marker will reflect his passion, his career, and the legacy he leaves behind.
The memorial will be crafted using Matthews Granite, with silver litho color and Verses 1.25 V‑Sunk lettering. The upright marker will be made of black granite, accompanied by two vases, one on each side. The base will be a gray-toned granite, providing contrast and balance to the overall design.
The inscription layout will include:
IN LOVING MEMORY (all caps) on the first line
OF on the second line
His first and last name on the third line
His birth and passing years (e.g., 1900 – 2026) on the next line
A detailed Navy ship engraving will be placed beneath the inscription to symbolize his years of dedication to painting government vessels. Below the ship design, the marker will include the phrase:
“Let the work I have done speak for me.”
Additionally, a crest-style oval design featuring his nickname is proposed for the top of the marker to add a personal and meaningful touch.
This design brings together his passion, his craftsmanship, and the pride he took in his work, creating a memorial that truly represents who he was.
