Video streaming software for Raspberry pi

I need a simple software for my raspberry pi that streams and display bitmap from serial from a teensy. When a complete imagine is rendered from the teensy then display it as a overlay and timeout after 1 second. Nothing fancy needed, no special interface or controlls. Just display the image drawn from serial when a new image is drawn and then timeout.
