FileName-Based VAR File Organizer Executable (Windows)
Budget: $250 – $750 USD
I'm searching for an experienced programming freelancer who can efficiently create a simple script to organize my files. Primarily, this task includes:
- Designing a script to specifically move files with the extension ".VAR".
- These files need to be relocated into sub-folders, the names of which should be determined by their filename.
- All VAR files will be located in a single source directory, simplifying the process.
- If destination folder does not exist, create it.
- User will be asked to specify where their application is installed.
- Based on application installation directory, there is a specific folder inside where the files that need to be moved reside.
- VAR files follow this format: "AuthorName"."PackageName"."VersionNumber".var (var is the extension).
- AuthorName and PackageName can contain any language, symbols, and characters, including leading and trailing spaces.
- VersionNumber will always be a number and is irrelevant to this process.
- GUI should be simple, attractive, and easy to use.
- GUI should output an easily readable log of what was done, e.g., "Moved XYZ.abc.1 to XYZ folder" or "Created XYZ folder", as in the case where the folder didn't exist previously.
- No undo functionality needed.
- Should run as a standalone without an install package.
The ideal candidate for this job would have a strong background in building file management scripts and savvy knowledge of programming languages. A keen attention to detail is crucial to ensure the accuracy of file organization. The quicker you can complete this task, the better. However, accuracy takes priority.
