Description/Outline of existing: Windows wifi Legacy network/soft access point creator software in C++

I have C++ code to create a wireless network and act as a soft access point to which my custom sensors can connect to and communicate back and forth using TCP/IP. The code is based on a Microsoft code example for Wifi Direct. A simple command console was created to execute a short list of commands. I would like to expand those commands (see existing commands below). To better define the improvements, I need to better understand the whole architecture, how it basically works and what classes/methods are available from Microsoft to easily use.
