Restore And Secure WordPress Site

My client’s WordPress site is sitting on a cPanel account and right now it only shows a blank page. The WordPress admin area is unreachable and, according to the hosting panel, nothing was touched or updated right before the outage. Fortunately I still have a full Jetpack 5 backup (files + database), but I’m not comfortable restoring it myself or digging through the server for possible security problems. I already tried to roll it back to 3/11 and it seemed to make things worse.

Here’s what I need from you:

• Restore the site from the Jetpack 5 backup so every public page loads normally and I can log back into wp-admin.
• Track down the root cause of the white-screen issue—even if it turns out to be corrupted core files, a hidden plugin conflict, or something on the server side—and explain it to me in plain language.
• Run a security audit: scan for malware, check file permissions, update core/plugins/themes if safe, and harden anything obvious (wp-config, htaccess rules, firewall rules inside cPanel, etc.).
• Provide a short, bullet-style hand-off report outlining what you fixed, any vulnerabilities you found, and best-practice steps I should follow to keep the site stable.

You’ll have full cPanel credentials, the Jetpack archive, and temporary SFTP if you prefer to work that way. Familiarity with WP-CLI, phpMyAdmin, and common hardening tools will make the job faster.

Once the site is loading correctly and security improvements are in place, I’ll verify everything on my end and release the final milestone.
