PHP Upgrade Required – RSS Script Migration from PHP 7 to PHP 8+ (with Cron Job Validation)

Project Overview:

We are seeking an experienced PHP developer to upgrade an existing RSS-based web application from PHP 7 to PHP 8+. The application is currently operational, and the objective is to ensure full compatibility with PHP 8+ while maintaining all existing functionality, performance, and stability.

Scope of Work:
PHP Version Upgrade
Migrate the existing codebase from PHP 7 to PHP 8+
Refactor deprecated functions and resolve compatibility issues
Ensure the application runs without warnings, errors, or performance degradation
Application Testing & Validation
Perform comprehensive testing across all modules, including RSS feed processing and admin functionalities
Confirm that all existing features operate as intended post-upgrade
Cron Job Functionality (Critical Requirement)
Review and validate all existing cron jobs
Ensure automated processes (e.g., RSS feed fetching, scheduled tasks) function correctly under PHP 8+
Diagnose and resolve any cron-related issues arising from the upgrade
Browser Compatibility
Maintain full compatibility
Ensure no front-end or user interface issues are introduced
Database & Backend Compatibility
Verify and update database interactions (MySQL/MariaDB) as needed
Ensure optimized and secure backend performance
Bug Fixing & Optimization
Identify and resolve any bugs encountered during migration
Improve code stability where necessary without altering core functionality
Deployment & Support
Assist with deployment on a cPanel-based hosting environment
Confirm successful execution in a live environment
Required Qualifications:
Proven experience with PHP 7 to PHP 8+ migrations
Strong understanding of legacy PHP codebases
Experience with cron job configuration and troubleshooting
Familiarity with cPanel and shared hosting environments
Solid debugging and testing capabilities
