Sci-Fi Short Film Costume Design

I’m putting together the costume look for two teenage leads in a low-budget sci-fi short set on a remote planet. The vibe we’re after blends stripped-down Viking influences with the grounded, utilitarian feel of Rey Skywalker—so it’s adventurous but not overtly futuristic. Think clean silhouettes, weather-worn fabrics, and a sense that these kids really live and fight in their gear.

Key visual notes
• Simple leather belts are the only leather elements I want to see—no fur and no heavy hides elsewhere.
• Garments should read as hand-crafted and practical, yet still hint at the mythic (layered wraps, rough-spun textures, muted earth tones).
• Light nods to Star Wars or Avatar: The Last Airbender are welcome—patterns, sashes, or minimal metallic trims—so long as the overall look stays grounded and affordable to reproduce.

What I’ll provide
• A folder of reference images (Viking art, Star Wars stills, Avatar sketches)

What I need from you
• 3–5 distinct costume concept sheets for each of the two characters (front and back, color)
• A drawing or simple graphic design with colour
• A quick pass of minor revisions once I choose the final direction
- I Do need a high end illustration. Just a basic graphic with colour.
- Tight deadline so I will need it soon.

Acceptance criteria
1. Designs stay within the “Rey-meets-Viking” brief: no futuristic armor plates, no fur, leather limited to belts.
2. Each concept is clear enough that a costumer could translate it into real fabric with a modest budget.
3. Final files delivered in the agreed formats and resolution.
