Pull-Away Minnie & Mickey Costumes

I need a skilled garment maker to create a small set of convertible costumes for an upcoming event. The idea is that each piece looks like simple heather-grey streetwear at first glance, but, with a quick pull, the outer layer detaches to reveal a bold cherry-red Minnie or Mickey polka-dot layer underneath—perfect for a surprise dance number.

What I’m after
• FOUR pull-away skirts
– Outer: heather-grey, fast-release (Velcro, snaps, or your preferred quick-change method)
– Inner reveal: cherry-red Minnie polka dots
– Sizes: 2 women’s medium, 1 adult large, 1 kids’ 10/12

• THREE pull-away shorts
– Outer: heather-grey, same quick-release construction
– Inner reveal: solid cherry-red to match Mickey’s classic style
– Sizes: 1 men’s XL, 2 boys’ 10/12

Fabric & feel
I’m leaning toward a breathable dance material—lightweight, moisture-wicking, with enough stretch to move comfortably on stage. If a blended fabric such as poly-spandex works best, let’s use that; just keep it soft, durable, and vibrant after repeated washes.

Construction notes
• All fastenings must hold firmly yet release instantly without snagging.
• Hems and seams should be reinforced so the inner layer looks clean once the grey shell is off.
• Colour match: heather grey outer, bright cherry red inner; please source inks or fabrics that keep that specific contrast.

Timeline & collaboration
The performance date is coming up quickly, so I’d love to lock in fabric choices and receive a brief mock-up or sample photo as soon as possible. Once we approve the prototype, you can complete and ship the full set.
