I need a copy editor for my Memoir
Budget: $15 – $25 AUD
this is my first book, my memoir, a tale of family domestic abuse with the main target, me! currently i have ten chapters written, with approximately six to eight more to go. this doesnt mean they are correctly chaptered as some may be too long.
the content requires expressive descriptions of physical outbursts, feelings emotions and wonderings of a child then as an adult. I am trying to use various language and phrasing to describe the abuse and aftermath. the story begins from my childhood of age eight and will conclude at my age of 63 years. it includes my family of five, our neighbourhood and the secret I was to keep of inside the walls of 158 Nortan Avenue.
I would like help with the language, and content to ensure it makes sense to the reader and draws them into my family kitchen at the mealtimes, the Friday night Fights and other harrowing times inside the home. I want the reader to feel the tale told through an eight year olds eyes and ears when she hears her father is having an affair with Shirley, so she knows affairing with Shirley is wrong but doesnt know exactly what that is.
I love the way I use the language to describe the complete circus of goings on in my house, yet am asking for an expert set of eyes and mind to pull it together as I lived each moment so cannot do that.
I have little idea what to ask about, except for help with the language and story plots, perhaps time frames, cost and what i pay for and what i will expect and receive.
