[Press Release Writing -- 2

This week you will use your writing skills to craft a news release. In addition to grading you on proper grammar, punctuation, capitalization, spelling, etc., I will be looking at format. Please use the linked articles, materials and your textbook to understand that press releases must be submitted to media and reporters in a specific format. I can tell you from experience that errors in format (do you have contact info, closing and boilerplate info) and grammar will result in your news release being thrown in the trash. Reporters will not spend time (they are incredibly busy) reading junk. They just won't do it. Therefore, it is critical that your press release offers a strong news angle that a reporter can use and is free of writing errors.
