Documentary Press Release & Kit - NEEDED BY AUGUST 9
Budget: $30 – $250 USD
I have a feature-length documentary ready to meet its audience, and I need a concise, compelling press release paired with a complete media kit that will spark interest in upcoming public screenings. The copy has to speak to the general public rather than industry insiders, so an engaging, conversational tone is key while still maintaining journalistic clarity.
What absolutely must shine through is the director’s personal vision and the remarkable story that drove this project from idea to screen. I also want the kit to spotlight the documentary’s unique angle—those elements viewers won’t find in any other film on the topic. When someone scans the materials, they should instantly grasp why this story matters now and feel motivated to share or attend a screening.
To make promotion easy for journalists, bloggers, and community partners, I’ll need everything packaged in a clean, well-designed PDF plus individual assets where appropriate.
Deliverables
• One press release (approx. 500 – 650 words) ready for immediate distribution
• Full media kit PDF containing: film synopsis, director’s statement, key “unique hook” points, high-resolution stills (I’ll supply imagery), director bio, contact sheet, and social links
• Copy isolated in a Word or Google Doc for quick edits
• Two headline options and an email pitch blurb (≤150 words) for outreach
Acceptance criteria
• Language is audience-friendly, free of jargon, and tailored to boosting attendance at screenings
• Director’s voice and the documentary’s distinctive aspects are clearly featured in the first half of the press release
• All facts are verified against the materials I provide; no assumptions added
• Final PDF under 10 MB, with logical section breaks and clickable links
If you’ve crafted press materials for films, festivals, or other storytelling projects and know how to hook everyday readers within the first sentence, I’d love to see a short sample or two. Let’s get this story in front of as many eyes as possible.
