Here, Havildar Abdul Hamid and the other soldier of 4 Grenadiers Company' were waiting to face the Pakistani Army. Brave Abdul Hamid was sitting in a jeep. He had a special gun The Patton Tanks of the Pakistani Army were not very far from him. He could hi1 the tanks with his guns if he wanted to. He was a good shot but he did not want to waste his shots Hie wanted to hit the tanks with each of his shots. The Pakistani tanks were ery powerful and dangerous They were approaching nearer and nearer They were rng continually. Brave Abdal Hamid marched forward. He saw a Pakistani tank He turmed his gun and fired a shot. The tank caught fire and went up in flames All the soldiers of Abdul Hamid's company were very happy Suddenly he saw another tank. He ired a shot again and it also burst into mes Four more tanks were seen The Pakistanis wantesd fo attack Abdul Hamad's commpary and kill him. He was their biggest enemy They tumed the guns of their ks towands him. Before they could fire, Abdul Hamid hat the thind tank too And went! is bad caught fire. Flames were rising high up into the sky. Bai alasOne shell of the enemy hit his jeep. The brave hero fell down. He was deeply wounded yet he did not lose heart. He ordered his soldiers, "Move forward and fight on." They obeyed his orders and fought bravely. Some more tanks of the enemy were destroyed. The Pakistani soldiers got afraid and fled. This brave soldier of the Indian Army died for his country. He was awarded the Param Vir Chakra posthumously. He will always be revered and remembered by the people of our country as the bravest hero of 1965 war against Pakistan. His village has been named 'Hamid Dham' after his name.
