Spanish-English Children’s Story Translation
Budget: $10 – $20 NZD
I have a collection of short Spanish stories written for readers aged 9-12, and I need them rendered into natural, engaging English. The voice must stay lively and slightly adventurous—perfect for pre-teens—while still reflecting the original author’s intent.
Cultural references that won’t resonate with an English-speaking audience should be reworked rather than footnoted; please replace or localise them so the flow feels seamless to kids who may not share the source culture. When a direct swap isn’t possible, use an equivalent that conveys the same humour, emotion, or context.
Deliverables
• A polished English version of each story in an editable Word or Google Docs file
• Light copy-editing for clarity, age-appropriate vocabulary, and consistent character names
• One revision round after my review to catch any missed nuances
A solid background in children’s literature translation—or at least proven sensitivity to middle-grade tone—will help a lot. If you can share a sample of previous work with similar age groups, that will speed up my selection.
