[EU ONLY] Experienced Developmental & Copy Editor Needed for 50k-Word Gritty Zombie Satire / Horror-Comedy

Job ID: 40495551

Budget: €750 – €1,500 EUR

IMPORTANT NOTE: This project is strictly open to freelancers located within the European Union (EU). Applications from outside the EU will not be considered.

I am looking for an experienced, EU-based editor for my upcoming fiction novel—a fast-paced, hyper-cynical, and politically incorrect survival-horror satire set in Berlin.

The story features a brutal generation clash written strictly in the active present tense, using an 80/20 "Show, Don't Tell" ratio to maximize the tension and mechanical grit of every scene. The English manuscript was initially translated using AI assistance, so it requires a thorough human touch to smooth out any artificial phrasing and ensure a natural, punchy flow.

Scope of Work:

Copy Editing & Proofreading: Correcting grammar, punctuation, spelling, and sentence structures.

Line Editing (Tone & Style): Enhancing the rhythm, dialogue flow, and comedic timing. It is absolutely crucial that the dark humor, sharp ironies, and cynical edge remain sharp and consistent throughout the book.

Developmental Feedback: Checking for logical consistency, character continuity, and pacing issues.

What I Will Provide:

Complete manuscript as a Microsoft Word file (.docx).

A short synopsis to help you grab the red thread and character dynamics instantly.

Deliverables Expected:

One document with visible track changes (Microsoft Word Track Changes enabled).

One clean, finalized document with all changes accepted.

A brief editorial feedback note highlighting any remaining plot holes or character inconsistencies.

Project Details & Timeline:

Word Count: Approx. 50,000 words.

Deadline: The complete edit must be finished within 4 weeks from project assignment.

Location Requirement: Must be located in an EU member state.

How to Apply:
Please submit your quote and estimated timeline. When applying, please briefly mention your experience with editing humor, dark satire, or horror genres, and provide verifiable references or portfolio samples of your work.
