Long-Term Book Editors Needed
Budget: $250 – $750 USD
I’m launching a new online editing service at the start of the year and am building a dependable team of seasoned, native-English book editors who can tackle a steady flow of projects. The catalogue you’ll touch ranges from full-length fiction to thought-provoking non-fiction and the occasional academic title, so flexibility and genre awareness matter.
Both service levels are required. Line editing pays $0.05 per word and focuses on style, flow, clarity, voice, and consistency. Proofreading pays $0.03 per word and zeroes in on grammar, punctuation, spelling, and layout accuracy. You can indicate whether you prefer one level or enjoy handling manuscripts all the way from heavy line work through the final proof pass; either way, the system will route jobs according to your strengths and availability.
Before onboarding, I ask each applicant to complete a brief, one-page sample edit. It lets us confirm voice compatibility, familiarity with Chicago Manual of Style (or equivalent), skill with track-changes in Word, and attention to detail. Once approved, you’ll receive projects in your dashboard with clear deadlines, word counts, and turnaround expectations. Payments are released immediately after the author signs off on your submitted files.

• Clean “accept all” version for author convenience
• Brief style sheet or summary note highlighting recurring edits and decisions
