Handwritten Novel Formatting & Proofreading

I have a complete English-language novel written by hand that now needs to move seamlessly into a polished, ready-to-publish file. I will supply high-resolution scans of each page; you will accurately transcribe the text, proofread it line by line, and lay it out in Microsoft Word following the Chicago Manual of Style.

Beyond clean paragraph and dialogue treatment, I want the book to feel like a professionally typeset work. Please build an auto-updating table of contents, create an index that references key terms and character names, and format any author notes as Chicago-style footnotes. Consistency in chapter headings, margins, line spacing and widow-orphan control is important to me.

Deliverables:
• A single .docx file with the complete, proofread manuscript
• Functional table of contents, index, and footnotes, all generated through Word fields so they update automatically
• A short change-log noting any edits that alter meaning, plus a style sheet capturing spelling decisions and recurring choices

I will review in Word’s Track Changes mode, so please keep revisions visible until final approval. Once I sign off, you’ll provide a clean, accepted-changes version.
